Blazers Take Over 1st Place in SFCBL North Division Standings
With four days in the regular season remaining the Palm Beach Blazers have taken 1st place in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League North Division and hold a .5 game lead over the FOS Eagles of Loxahatchee. Four Blazer players are hitting over .300 which include Corey Hamula (Brockport State University) who is leading the team in average hitting .359 with 5 doubles, 23 hits and 15 runs. New comer Hayden Kelley (University of South Florida) is hitting .324 in 12 games played. Outfielder and 2013 SFCBL All-Star Caleb Goodwin (Christian Brothers University) is currently hitting .317 with 19 hits and 7 runs scored. Corey Shaver (Keystone University) is leading the team in RBI's with 23 and currently hitting .313 with 25 hits. Also an offensive contributor Jabari Gayle (Indian River State) is hitting .294 with 20 hits, 14 RBI's, 13 stolen bases and 1 HR. Pitching has also been consistent with a team ERA of 3.98 and five pitchers with over 20 K's including: LHP Brian O'Keefe (University of Bridgeport) leading the Blazers with 27 K's, LHP Anthony Seblano (Northwood University) with 24 K's, RHP Dylan Smith (Webster University) with 24 K's, LHP Jack Parker (Christian Brothers University) with 22 K's and Kristian Deluzio (Neuman University) with 20 K's. Left handed pitcher Steven Fleming (Flagler College) has also been very effective out of the pen with a 1.68 ERA and 11 K's. The Blazers will play three more games to close out the 2013 season and have already started preparation for Friday night’s playoff game. Stay posted for more info as the playoffs approach!
