Player Spotlight: Moises Alou Jr.

Moises Alou Jr. who is the son of long time Major Leaguer Moises Alou (17 seasons)  has signed to play with the Palm Beach Blazers for the 2014 season.  Alou was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and attended Saint Michael's School until his senior year of high school.  For his senior year of high school Alou Jr. moved to Bradenton, Florida and attended IMG Academy.  "It was the best move for me to be seen by college coaches and pro scouts", said Alou Jr.  "Playing college baseball in the United States was always my goal and by going to IMG Academy it made the transition from the Dominican Republic much easier as I had been there my whole life."  As a freshman Moises accepted a scholarship to play at powerhouse San Jacinto Junior College in Houston, Texas.  He medically re-shirted after tearing his labrum and then transferred to Volunteer State C.C. in Tennessee.  "My number one goal for this spring and summer is to stay healthy and improve my game", said Alou.  "I heard from a few teammates that the league (SFCBL) had really good competition which is what I am looking for as well."  Moises mentioned that his favorite food is sushi and his hobbies include playing soccer, working out and fishing.
