Huskies Defeat Blazers 8-2

The South Florida Huskies (10-8) beat the Palm Beach Blazers (8-14) 8-2 on Thursday at Miller Park after a six-run explosion in the ninth inning.

The South Florida Huskies scored in the ninth on , a single by Nick Rodriquez (Florence Darlington Tech) a fielder's choice, an RBI single by John Baiada (West Texas A&M) an RBI single by Baiada, and a groundout by Aaron Sheaks (Southeastern).

Ian Romano (Fairleigh Dickinson) brought the heat against the Palm Beach Blazers during his outing. Romano held the Palm Beach Blazers hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

A bright spot for the Palm Beach Blazers in the defeat was Corey Martinez (William Patterson) who allowed only zero runs while striking out eight.

Kevin Torres (Wayland Baptist) improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the South Florida Huskies. He allowed one run over two-thirds of an inning. Torres struck out none, walked none and gave up two hits.

Dalton Thompson (Masters) couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Palm Beach Blazers, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked none and struck out three.
